Make-Over Party Ideas For Your Up and Coming Tween

As your tween approaches young adulthood, thoughts of dress-up, playing with dolls, and hosting tea parties for her teddy bears turns to thoughts of boys, looking good, boys, make-up, boys, eating right and looking good, and of course, boys. So in keeping with what floats her boat, why not host a Make-Over Party.

MAKE-OVER PARTY INVITATION IDEAS

Start the Make-Over Party excitement with fun invitations. Use card stock to create invitations in over-sized shape of lipsticks or pressed powder compacts. Write all the party details on one side. Decorate the other side with glitter or glue-on gems.

MAKE-OVER PARTY ATTIRE

Be sure to instruct your guests to bring their robes, slippers, and comfortable lounge wear. As an alternative, you could visit your local thrift shops and see if you could find some robes to handout at the party. Of course, you will want to launder them before the big event.

MAKE-OVER PARTY ROOM IDEAS

First of all, you will want to set the stage and turn your home into a salon. Cover the front door with pink butcher paper and give your "salon" a name. You can use your daughter's name, e.g., Welcome to Sherry's Salon or come up with a catchy name and put something like, Welcome to Serenity Salon.

To create a serene, spa atmosphere intertwine white Christmas lights throughout tall potted plants and trees. Hang white nets of lights on the walls and cover with sheer white or pink fabrics. Use lighted, scented candles in decorative holders throughout the room. Have baskets containing chilled, bottled water. Also, provide magazines and hand lotion at various locations throughout your "salon."

MAKE-OVER PARTY ACTIVITIES

Start out by giving all the girls a facial. This may be accomplished in one of several ways. You could enlist the assistance of some of your friends or older teens so you ultimately have as many helpers as you do guests. This way everyone shall receive their facial simultaneously. MAKE-OVER PARTY FOOD IDEAS

Provide healthy foods for snacking. For example, a tray of fresh fruits like cut-up pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, strawberries, mangos, and grapes, along with a fruit dip. Also, a tray of fresh veggies like cut-up carrots, celery, mushrooms, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, etc., along with a Ranch Dressing veggie dip might be nice. Create finger sandwiches. Cut off the crusts and cut a sandwich into fourths and add a decorative toothpick for easy pick-up.

Rather than providing a buffet of various foods, you could take your beautifully adorned guests out to a nice dinner to show off their new looks.

Bottom Line: Ultimately, of course, whatever is decided you will want to involve your tween from beginning to end. Afterall, it is her party. This is the perfect opportunity to bring mother and daughter even closer as you both work for the common goal of creating a party to remember!
